The Dawn Collectiv, who self proclaim they are 'a collective of artists who share a likeminded dreams and aspirations' - have put together a sweet video that can be used to explain the madness that was The Upbeats 'Primitive Techniques' Album tour. This particular video came from the Christchurch event that was put on by Bass Freaks. Nice work all involved.
I recall when this mix came out, it was a huge deal for NZ drum and bass, because we got one of the biggest NZ DJs to have a mix with fresh and relevant tunes on the cover of a very popular Dance music magazine. I particulary remember going into the local barbers and hearing this play as the first time I had heard DnB of this sort outside of a club. This is a brilliant doco on people who are still involved in cutting vinyl over in Europe, produced by PZ (James Meharry).
While this was posted on the forums a couple of weeks ago, I've been playing it nearly every day since I grabbed it. Crazy mix of tunes from various genres, all 100% vinyl mixed. Nice one Taiko.
